I could envision a FB app that doesn't just tell people where you were at but also how much money you spent there. People LOVE to brag about purchases.
iskiran just checked in to Sacks Fifth Ave and spent $1500. -This will be the next step. After that, aspects of banking transparency. iskiran just received a $25,000 deposit. I'm kidding but at the same time, humans are so vain, who knows?

Blippy is just such a horrible name for a thing like that. It needs to speak to the vanity that would be the impetus for such a thing. It's all about "competing with the Jone's". Maybe it could be called ispend
Bad idea. Banking is not simple at all. If Facebook wants to expand, they should do it in areas that leverage what they do well. Banking could be a huge money/energy sink. It's not enough for something to have synergistic monetization, it needs to synergistically improve the user experience.
Also, mixing banking and Facebook just feels wrong.

I remember a startup a while ago which allowed you to make your purchases public, like a twitter for your bank account. I don't think it went anywhere, and I hope this doesn't either.

Just read this. See my comment. I didn't realize it had already been attempted. I'm surprised it failed. I imagine it will be reattempted. We are vain and we want everyone to know what we are doing, who we are doing it with and how much it cost us to do it.
