I want human exploration of Mars as much as anyone else, -probably more so. But, I'm actually not for this. There will be motivations in a profit/entertainment-driven venture that will lead to shortcuts and jeopardize the lives of those involved.

Mars is going to be grueling, and there is a good chance that people will die.

Also, those above ground structures are unrealistic. More likely they will cover any structures with dirt to reduce radiation exposure.

I guess I saw it as more of a cspan-level of entertainment. Not overly dramatic but narrated by Morgan freeman.

I doubt that the integrity of the mission would be compromised by sharing the trials and successes along the way via tv. I do think it could make the project more visible and create a common objective for humanity. It would need to be done by someone that respects the mission more than the ratings. Produced by James Cameron?

I had to reread that twice. :)

If Morgan Freeman was narrating my adventure, I'd be worried.

...THE MARTIAN WINTER CAME FAST TO OUR FOUR EXPLORERS.

Morgan Freeman could read the sentence," the Martian surface was dry and arid" and make it sound dramatic and cool. I guess my point(not well made, I admit) was that Morgan Freeman could narrate cspan and make it interesting.
