"Saved" for later tonight, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm also now following #unicorns . Never thought that would happen.

Yeah, couldn't wait. Fucking wonderful chapter man. Really great stuff
Binding, not like the U.S Constitution or a cell phone contract but binding like gravity
I like that magic is contractual and seemingly "uncool" from a "wand/potient/prince/frog" way but super cool from a thinking/nerds narrative. Reminds me a bit of Susannah Clark's approach in Norrel/Strange. But the style is all you, I love the close:
As a rule I do not enjoy female characters in narrative. Either they are projections of male fantasy and come off wooden and absurd or are expertly written and thus incomprehensible. Unfortunately these events involve a woman. If she appears a projection I hope you will ascribe it to the weakness common to my gender. If she is incomprehensible there is some chance that I succeeded as her actions are unfathomable to me.
-Now I have to meet this woman and find out whether I deem you a success or not. You keep pulling me in, nice work.
