I just responded to an article on the same issue that DragonflyMind just linked. When I read that article, my thought was that people weren't ready to trust an app like that. As I read your comment, I realize that even if they did, it would be an invasion of privacy.

A database full of information like this can't help but be abused, especially in conjunction with location data. Any individual could be targeted accurately for any purpose by whomever holds this data. Hell, this algorithm is probably better equipped to recognize individuals than some people (myself included) are.
