English, about half of German (classes), and about a fifth of Spanish (Duolingo). Oh, and drum gear jargon? Like, I can describe the sound of any cymbal or drum any day. I used to spend way too much time just window shopping drum stores.

Do you think those classes got you to a conversational level of German with a native speaker?

I can describe the sound of any cymbal or drum any day.

Dare I ask, in the form of a beat box???

I'm still only halfway through my university's sequence of German classes, but I think I could hold up a conversation. Not at a high level, but enough to get by.

Haha no, there's just a very specific set of vocabulary common to people who talk about gear.

Do you guys do student exchanges? My school used to do it, but the US students' German was all but non-existent.

Sort of? We have a relationship with the University of Freiburg where we exchange one professor and one upper-level student to intern with each school's language department, and every other year we have a group that goes and studies at Freiburg for a semester.
