What are the implications of more algae? Are there negative consequences to there being more algae? Just curious, it doesn't really say anything about that. It does say the ocean will be able to capture more CO2. That's a silver lining...

I think the revelation here is that the ice is thinning so much that the algae are now able to bloom under the ice. It's correct that they can consume more CO2 but their blooms can be potentially toxic. like the Red Tide bloom on the West coast.
