Also interestingly enough many Americans in this position can't actually "Sell" their car. In America if you are poor you get suckered into negative equity loans or leases. So many Americans don't own the cars they drive and would actually have to pay quite a bit to get rid of them.

Plus, if your credit is bad, you're often stuck with Buy Here, Pay Here dealers and they can be predatory as fuck.
