This is sweet man. I love that (tenor?) sax, and you got that Michael League groove on the bass. I'd say you're lucky to get a tight group like that together!
Snarky Puppy is definitely within my top three influences. The large sax in the video is a baritone (bari) sax. Tenor is just a little larger than the alto.
Ah right, my friend had a nice tenor sax with the brass kinda unfinished/unpolished, it sounded sexy as hell. I dig the timbre of that bari too though. Who are the other 2 top influences? Ellington or Mingus?
Yeah definitely man, tenor is solid. Of bassists, it's probably a tie between Ray Brown and Paul Chambers. In terms of composition, the Contemporary Noise Sextet is superb. Their album Pig Inside the Gentleman is so beautiful the whole way through.
