I rarely block people, mostly just a few aggressive walruses (walri?) I filter people though, and it's always because they bring more bad then good to my feed. If you're getting muted maybe spend time contributing to the site more. Start interesting discussions, post links, write articles about your passions. You'll enjoy the site more and hopefully it will incentivize people to keep you in the conversation. Edit: it's walruses. Weird. Edit 2: Read the link, it's actually sea lion. Today is not my day.
