pretty self-explanatory
A poet friend asked if her poet friends could upload themselves reading their own poems to somewhere so that she could listen to them while she runs, so I'm working on that.
I feel like most of the recordings start off kind of not-solid but then they get good. So give it like 60 seconds before you decide it's terrible - I mean, please.

I am SO into your poetry readings. All poetry readings, really. It chances my perspective on the poems themselves and how I interpret them. The way I first read Howl and then how I felt it when Ginsberg read it were two wildly different emotions. Last week I was listening to Democracy Now! and they had Viggo Mortenson on reading one of his pieces, and I just can't stop noticing how much power the author's own voice has. I'm going to listen to this first chance I get.
Awesome! Well, if you click around my soundcloud you should be able to find a playlist that contains most of the OC I've uploaded. (I hate Soundcloud. It seems you can't add tracks to a playlist you've already created. Edit: Fixed! Site was being stupid last night, or I was, I guess. This among several other inane hang-ups the site and app have.) I'm going to keep adding one or two at a time every couple of days, if you want I can let you know on Facebook or somehow when I update. (I am letting my poet-running friend know via Facebook message when I update, so, it's no hardship.) I hope you like it!
Thanks. This is probably the most prestigious publication credential I have, too. I actually recorded several poems (5-7) all in the same time period, once I got on a roll, but have opted to upload them piecemeal. For a number of them I did do multiple takes but I also got tired of being critical and listening to my own voice over and over. Also, when I did multiple takes, I didn't save earlier ones, I would delete and re-record which I think was a mistake. I recorded another poem today and this time kept both takes so that I could make a decision between them, instead of just being forced to use the last take. I don't have any advanced audio equipment or software or anything ,so I am recording using voice memos on the iPhone and the whole take has to be "good enough." (Can't splice together a good first half of a take with a good second half of another take, for instance.) I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm now tempted to re-record it again, but for now, I think I shall let it stand. (I think I have to, now that I've put it out into the wild, a little bit.)
