Most of the experiments involve rotating the platform through at least one axis in order to eliminate external influence. If it were perturbing gravity in any way it'd show up as some pretty weird-ass anomalies, at least as far as I understand the test rigs.

That would suck. If it's gravity, it will not only be useless for interplanetary, but even for satellites. Inverse-square means the already-small propulsion would be insignificant in LEO.

Well, the idea is crazy at its roots. But EM is inverse square too.
