Yea ... thats one of the draw backs of short film. Some of the story lines seem incomplete. It must be difficult to fully develop a characters story in such a small time frame.

Still, It would have fit the narrative nicely to have it end with him getting a call from the doctor, or word from the doctor that he did have it. My guess is that he didn't or else it would have been included.
