Thanks, great tips! Very constructive! I do try to edit a little to the beat of the music but I've encoutered 2 problems with that. First, I'm not very a musical person so I'm not good at feeling the beat and second imovie sucks for precision editing and I don't always have the patience to mess around until I get it. I should download finalcut or something. I still have a semester left at school but we should go traveling around January. I'll definitely post on Hubski when I get started :)
I'd skip out on final cut. I haven't used it in a while but nobody I know likes X. If you want a no frills easy editor see if you can get a copy of Sony Vegas. It's really user friendly and as long as you aren't trying to do complex post work it's great.
