When I was 6 we lived in a house with an awesome climbable tree outside. I used to climb up every day after school and read until dinner. I had A Light in the Attic, Falling Up, and Where the Sidewalk Ends, and I must have read each of them at least 10 times that year. When I moved this month I could only bring about 100 of my ~400 books and I brought Where the Sidewalk Ends with me. It was a great choice because Shel Silverstein is a great writer.
He was a big part of my childhood too. My grandmother used to read the poems with me and eventually, I would sit around and read them on my own. It's about time I start reading them to my daughter.

He sure is. Did you know he wrote this song?:
Whaaa??? You just made my life right now. That's actually my favorite Johnny Cash song. Also a big part of my childhood. My dad and I used to listen to San Quentin Live all the time in his truck and we always sang along to this one!! "I tell ya, I've fought tougher men...but I really can't remember when"
