I enjoy calling in to radio programs from time to time in order to ask a question. There is always a screener that asks what your question is. I am careful to keep my question short and to the point, concluding with "and I'll take my answer off the air". I've never not been put through based on this approach. I am often shocked by some of the bumbling idiots that make it through the screening process. "Hi, I'm a long time listener and I've been trying to call in for years, I'm a little nervous but here it goes... I have a 17 part question..."
Write down your question in advance, edit it and revise it to be succinct and open ended. No yes or no questions. And most importantly, don't ask a question just to do so or appear like you're curious, that wastes everyones time. Ask a question only when you truly want to know the answer. I agree, most people don't know how to ask a good question.
