Caio, I was very disturbed by this post, but only because it was so damned good I didn't get any work done all day. I really enjoyed this read. It was definitely antithetical to much of the AI stories I have read. Most of the time stories of AI involve the subjects "turning" on their creator, in this story that concept is somewhat reversed. In the end though, isn't every story really about a guy falling for a girl and having to make a painful sacrifice?
Great, great read. I will definitely be "hub-ing" this. -Thanks.
Sorry about your day, but it is a great read, isn't it? It seems that Ted Chiang always writes very long. Here's the short story with which he won the 2009 Hugo Award for Best Short Story. It's the first one I read of his. Also a great (and long, but not that long) read. http://tinyurl.com/c2t5rb
