My girlfriend is having her gallbladder removed this week. It's a very routine outpatient operation, but I admit I'm terrified for her. We've been together quite a while, but this is the first time either of us has had to be hospitalized for anything.

Also, I'm working for a pretty small company right now that is growing pretty rapidly. I've been trying to break out of my shell a bit more and show intent on growing with the company, which apparently has been working. Overall management has been really supportive of me and have approached me for a couple promotions over the last year. Recently It has happened again. They ultimately want me in a position that will require a lot of training and will have considerably more responsibilities.

It's incredibly nice to see the vote of confidence and support the company is providing. But damn, I am incredibly anxious about it. I know my bosses will be available all the time to answer questions and support me, and I feel confident that I can learn what needs to be done if I work hard. But I think I'm still terrified that I'll be in a position with a team looking up to me. I struggle to find the confidence needed to be a good leader and be in charge.

Overall I'm pretty stressed and excited about everything.

Got mine out in May! Don't evern worry about it. It's super easy recovery; I was on my feet by day 3/4. If you have any questions I am happy to answer them. Rest assured that she will feel 5000% better after she recovers. I didn't even feel human for the months that mine was causing me problems.

Thanks! I know I'm over thinking it. I'm really happy she'll feel better soon.

I've also just always really disliked hospitals, not that too many people love them, I guess.

Random invasive question: is she on hormonal birth control? I only recently learned that hormonal birth control can increase risk of gall bladder disease. I didn't think twice when it started giving me trouble because every woman in my family has to get it out eventually, but they all got theirs removed in their 30s, 40s, 50s and I'm 23...
