I figured someone would try to hack it based on moral grounds eventually, and I was half right. What triggered the action was -according to the hackers themselves- a fraudulent practice by the company behind the website, which offered its users the option to delete all personal information from their servers for the small price of $19, but didn't hold up their end of the deal.
And I couldn't help but notice this:
- “Too bad for those men, they’re cheating dirtbags and deserve no such discretion,” the hackers continued.
I wonder if they're just feminist hackers or if they say this because the majority of the userbase was made up of married men. It will be interesting to see some statistics.
It doesn't have anything to do with feminists. Grendel took a break for the weekend so he needs to maximize his anti-women rhetoric for the day to catch up. Edit: For the record what he said below is patently untrue according to both the English dictionary and common sense. He's just trying to re-appropriate feminist as a curse word.
I would respond to rinx but he has blocked me as well for having a differing opinion. The dictionary is not the end all be all on what words mean. Words have different meanings in different cultures. It is for this reason that feminism of today is different from feminism when the movement started. Traditionary anti-feminism was the same thing as misogyny. But today with rise in militant feminists who no longer want equal rights but superior rights misogyny isn't exactly the antithesis anymore. I believe in equal rights. I don't believe in anyone's superiority over another especially not under the guise of equality. I am 100% positive someone will take offense I this and call me a bigot or something. I don't hate women I hate faux-feminism. Much love.
It's sad, the moment you criticize anyone self-described as feminist, the chorus here is "What!? You hate all women!?" It's a rather dumb knee jerk response which circumvents any critical thinking, which makes sense that they're always quick with the block button to stop anyone from questioning their lack of logic. Back on topic of the submission, it appears the CEO says the hack was the work of an insider. Traditionary anti-feminism was the same thing as misogyny. But today with rise in militant feminists who no longer want equal rights but superior rights misogyny isn't exactly the antithesis anymore.
Yeah it's been happening a lot lately. I'm called a bigot or insensitive on here for simply disagreeing with people. Now I'm a fascist too because my beliefs and ideals don't align with others.
I immediately noticed this as well. Not sure if it's feminists or not since the majority of the world seems to think that men are the cheaters in relationships. Women cheat on guys too. As a matter of fact, I'm a man and I have never cheated but I have been cheated on countless times. So as far as my experience goes women are the cheaters. I'm just not foolish enough to assume that my experiences represents the whole of a particular gender as many of the people who commented on the article (not this post necessarily) seem to be. What two adults do is their own business regardless of any other circumstances in their life. Sometimes people get their feelings hurt and I get that. Sometimes people are dishonest as well but it's still their business not the worlds. No one should have all of their personal information including preferences of sexual natures, let alone their name address and credit card information, handed out to the public under any circumstance. You can't claim justice while being unjust.
I don't understand what the moral outrage is over having an open relationship. Love and sex are not mutually exclusive in my experience, or maybe that's just my perspective as a guy. Sure, some of the site's users may have been "cheating dirtbags" but I doubt all of them were. Furthermore, not everyone who sleeps with a married person wants to be a homewrecker, sometimes two people are just hot and horny. I guess the so-called moral police can only see the world in black and white? Just to add, the faux offer to delete all personal information for nineteen bucks is pretty shady. The people behind that website deserve more scorn than the users, in my opinion.
