I was thinking about exactly this just yesterday. At some point in the future, you'll be able to choose whether your baby should have an intelligence quotient of 100 or 150. Some people will choose the latter, and gradually force everyone else to do the same. What is now considered average intelligence will then become mild retardation.
This could turn out to be one of the greatest revolutions in human history.
Yep, basically my thoughts as well. Which countries will willingly choose to fall behind technologically in the coming decades? The US has always been at the leading edge, but ethical differences surrounding these issues may leave them behind."My point is simply that competitive pressures, on the international level as well as the individual level, are pretty likely to swamp such objections in practice"
Or we could stop poisoning one another with bullshit. Like this. People can't even confront every day shot we have been dealing with for thousands of years and people talking about becoming cyborgs and genetically modifying ourselves. Shouldn't we deal with our dysfunctional humanity as it is now?
