I'm a writer for a small time geek-themed website while I've written my fair share of articles and game reviews, I always wanted to contribute more and in a way that would be really meaningful. That's when I got the courage to ask Shenanigansen from Owl Turd Comix if I could interview him. He said yes, and the results can be seen in the video.
I don't mean to brag, but I'm quite proud of myself. He was awesome enough to do the illustrations and I learned how to do the audio editing mostly on my own. I can say that I put work in a project that I started all on my own and got it done. And now I have a cartoon version of myself! :D
Well done! He seems like a nice guy. I'm not a comic enthusiast, but I know what it takes to interview someone, edit the interview and try to put it all together in an interesting way. Very cool of him to do the drawings. Congratulations! Okay, back to watching more... just learned that it's not the owl's TURDS that have the bones. Interesting...
Thanks TNG! It was both fun and hard work and I'm so happy to have it completed. Seriously, I think everyone thinks that the bones were in the turds, hahaha.
This is really great. Only problem is you say "awesome" or a version of that quite a lot. The video that goes along with it is amazing and gives context to what your talking about for people who have never read his comics. It also makes it enjoyable to watch instead of listening just like a podcast. Did you edit this yourself? I would love to see a series of you interviewing web comic artists!
I would subscribe to your channel but really I'm just interested in interviews of web comic artists
Hahaha yes, I'm aware of that. "Very Cool" was a statement I edited out many many times. It was a little more than I had expected doing an interview that lasted 20 minutes rather than say, 5 minutes but not to shabby for a first timer, eh? I did the audio editing but Shen did the artwork and animations to synchronize with said audio. Well if there is enough demand for it, which could be a possibility, perhaps I will broaden my scope and interview all kinds of geeky-people including more web comic artists. I can't promise anything yet due to the sites' limited resources, but with more support and a growing audience, I'd love to do more interviews. Thanks for your feedback! :D
Next, please interview Christopher Hastings of Dr McNinja, he's recently been working on Adventure Time comics and I think there's a great opportunity to talk about making the jump from digital and web-syndicated to print and physical goods. Really enjoyed the video and look forward to seeing more :)
Thank you for the suggestion. I will consider this and take a look at his works. Perhaps in the future when our brand grows a bit more and I can get my hands on better equipment, I will definitely consider interviewing more web-comic artists.
