I'm trying to learn a handful of different software tools including Flash, Premiere, and FL Studio. These are all covered on Lynda.com, but Lynda is boring! There's hours and hours of video that don't teach you anything. If you're new to the site and software, there's no direction for where to start, and it costs at least $25/month to slog through the videos. It makes learning a chore! Isn't there anything better?
I gave up on lynda.com as well. Same reason as you. "Teachers" who had no idea how to properly present information, no clue about different learning styles, monotonous, repetitive, some took hours to go anywhere, would watch hours and learn almost nothing. And not much variety, once you start to look closer.
My union pays so that I have full access to VTC.com. I wouldn't argue they're better than Lynda. They're different. I've done several courses through there. I've always preferred Peach Pit for when it's available. Their books pretty much made me proficient in Logic and DVD Studio Pro (and boy do I use that a lot these days).
