Congratulations!! Glad to hear that both the mom and baby are doing great. Catch a little ZzZzZz whenever you get a chance. River is an interesting name. I am most interested in how the name came about.
Thanks lessismore, insomniasexx is right. We considered a few names before we came to that one, however, once I suggested it, River remained the favorite. I am sure it was Firefly inspired, as we had just watched the series through a few months before. Interestingly, the older folk that we tell often ask about River Phoenix. It brings to mind feelings of deep strength for me. The Firefly character has that, but also the noun itself.
It took us a little while. We liked Ophelia, Penelope and Lucy, but River won out. We decided against Ophelia and Penelope since they would be shortened, and when it came down to Lucy and River, I asked gq: "Which of the two would you rather be named?" That decided it. gq is napping, and River is snoozing next to me. We just got back from the hospital yesterday. Both had a slight fever right after delivery, so we had to stay on for a course of antibiotics. All is good, but we definitely don't have a routine down yet. This whole week I'll probably be dropping by Hubski intermittently.

LOL I cant believe I was right! Awesome name. I'm just glad you didn't choose a name with a bunch of "y" in it. I work doing kids birthday parties so I'd see over 100 names a day. Lately it has been a fad but they seem like stripper names. Like "jyssica" or "Alyx" etc. I am too high to think of some better examples but you get my drift.

Don't worry about hubski.com. The disks are spinning and the pages are serving. It will remain so. It is best that you steal a few ZzZz's whenever you can. :)
