Great idea to take lessons with your daughter! My Mom began taking lessons with my sister and I when we started at age 5. It made it much easier for her to help us practice when she had some idea what was supposed to be happening. And while she didn't keep up with playing violin, my siblings and I did (now I'm in college, and can play almost anything I want to be able to play).
We are taking suzuki method. I am a musician and I can play most stringed instruments if you give me enough time to mess around with them, but I've never played a bowed instrument. I'm so excited to be learning. My daughter is only 4 years old, but she's doing a great job. I have no doubt that by the time she's 6, she'll have surpassed my violin playing skills.
