There's one reason I'll miss reddit. It's a catchall for communities. For many of the interests I have, the related subreddit is as good or better than any other forum or community that may exist. If I want to find an established community based around some new game or activity I've discovered, my first step is to search for a related subreddit. And most of these subreddits are great; little to no drama, lots of active members, and useful content daily. This isn't a role I can see hubski filling soon or maybe ever.

Check out voat. After this all calms down that is.

I'd never go to voat if it was the last bastion of "great" communities with all the toxic redditors now circle jerking it over there, fuck that noise.

I have been on Voat for some time now. It is a decent place in principle, but after the last wave or two of people joining in it is becoming less welcoming to dissent and more and more circlejerky about how they are supposedly better than Reddit. I have nothing against Voat growing, a competitor to Reddit is a good thing, IMO, but it lacks diversity and content at this point.

I'm hoping the great migrations of '15 will result in some cool new communities popping up, I have seen such an amazing influx in the past 24hrs!

I haven't been able to access it much in the past day or so due to the servers being overloaded. I am definitely more hopeful about this wave of new people coming in than I was when the FPH community moved over. Colour me cautiously optimistic.

You might like Snapzu more in that case.

I just decided to give it a try, switched from Snapzu to Hubski for a second and saw this message :)

It's got a nice design, can't really get a sense of the community with all the introduction and meta posts about Snapzu and Reddit. The gamification process is interesting, I haven't used a website with something similar in a couple years now. Time will tell, I guess. For now I will be jumping around Voat, Snapzu, and Hubski, seeing which community I like the most and which website can actually keep its head above the water with the Reddit hug of death incoming.
