I don't have a pet right now, for practical reasons. But I love animals, and names.
I'll never have a Doberman, but if I did, it would be named Vashta Nerada.
I'd love to have an Irish Setter, who would be named Arthur Pendragon, if I had enough space.
More likely, if I have a cat in the future, she will be named after a female mathematician, like Sofia Kovalevskaya or Amalie Emmy Noether.
I also think dead US Presidents make great names for pets, like Rutherford B. Hayes and Grover Cleveland.
And of course, there are a slew of racehorses, from the misspelled American Pharoah—whom I refuse to prounce other than Fair-oh-uh—to Potoooooooo.
So Hubski, do you have a pet with a great name? Or a great name in need of a pet?
We currently have three pets: - Fish, a betafish - Fishnu, a betafish - Fishes, a labrador retriever/something mix My sister has a golden retriever named Biggles. Someday when I have a house and a yard, I'd like to have a pair of dogs named Bisquick and Waffles. Growing up, my parents had Lady and Amadeus, who were malamute/wolf hybrids. I also had a rhode island red named Chicken, once. She was the only hen I've ever met that was social enough to acquire a name.
I name all our pets after Farscape characters. We have two cats named Zaán and Chiana and a fish named D'Argo.
