I definitely think it's telling when the ACLU makes an app designed to record police brutality without it getting confiscated. If the problem necessitates the existence of an app like this, then the proper response shouldn't just be make an app, but deal with the underlying cause behind it. Although I don't think the ACLU has enough power to really deal with the issue at large so the app is almost all they can do. They have been an ever-present force in the ongoing debates this past year or 2 but I'm not sure if they still have the ability to influence like they used to. As for when the government decides not to accept videos recorded from 3rd party applications, that would be a pretty scary day.
