The gaming world has always new things to offer. And this is because we are talking about a huge market and users will always demand new products that have new features in order to make the experience more real and bring a lot of excitement in their house. This is why companies like Oculus VR are launched because they bring something new that gamers will love at any time.
It'll be interesting to see what effect, if any, Facebook's influence will have. I'm really excited about the new VR possibilities, but this launch is going to be important for an infant industry (especially in light of other, more gimicky attempts at making VR gaming that we've seen ). I hope that it's a good product, and one I can look forward to owning after the initial launch pans out, but I don't think I'll be buying it right away just due to my own suspicions and cynicism.
