- “They have their iPhones, they have their iPads, they have their computers,” he said. “But they still want a typewriter. If you want to concentrate, if you want to write in your own mind, write with a typewriter. You see the words hit the paper. There’s no distractions.”
...except the CLICK CLACK CLACK CLICK sound, right? I've never been one to type on a typewriter so maybe it's not as annoying or distracting as I imagine.
"Using a typewriter at times feels more like playing piano than jotting down notes, a percussive exercise in expressing thought that is both tortuous and rewarding. " lol I don't know about this statement. Maybe a tiny metal clicking piano that doesn't make music(conventionally), and: "If you want to concentrate, if you want to write in your own mind, write with a typewriter. You see the words hit the paper. There’s no distractions.” No distraction but the "CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKSWOOOOOSHRATTLEDING!!!!" Every time you type a line. That, and you have to push the reel back every line.
I've used a mechanical keyboard before but it's not nearly as clickity-clackity as a typewriter. It flows relatively similarly to a regular keyboard, albeit with more feedback.
