Love this comment! I actually had a similar experience. I have been open-minded in a lot of ways for a long time because I was fortunate enough to be educated in a very progressive environment, but Reddit introduced me to the concept that I could be someone without any trace of hate or distaste toward minorities and still be privileged, that it doesn't just go away if you're a nice member of the privileged class. I also met the first friend who refined my vocabulary to a more appropriate adaptation there. If only everyone's experiences with Reddit led them in that direction, rather than validating closed-mindedness for so many privileged individuals.

I find it very interesting that Reddit is where I learned this lesson. I honestly had never even heard of the term "privilege" until Reddit (I mean, I knew what the definition and all... just had never seen it in that context). I guess that site can do some great things and it can do some terrible things.
