I watched a show last night where Christopher Hitchens toured Texas. A lawyer was given a gun used to kill a man by the judge after the shooter was acquitted based on the testimony of the local sheriff that the man was no good and deserved to die. We just killed a man here in Georgia who was borderline retarded an no one batted much of an eye. And we have nowhere near the reputation of Texas.
I have tried to parse that sentence a few times and I can't. Did the judge kill the man or give the gun? Who was the shooter? Was the man who was killed the shooter? The shooter was acquitted based on the sheriff's testimony that he was no good and deserved to die? It's probably just me. I'll watch the video later - I'm sure it will explain. A lawyer was given a gun used to kill a man by the judge after the shooter was acquitted based on the testimony of the local sheriff that the man was no good and deserved to die.
The judge gave the murder weapon to the lawyer. The shooter was acquitted based on the sheriff's opinion of the victim. Deep link: Basically the judge accepted vigilantism according to the prosecutor. The deep link isn't working very well for me but it's in the ball park
