Pretty responsive! The buttons require a tiiiny bit of extra pressure to push in, but I like that anyways because I have my watch usually pretty close to where my wrist and my hand meet, and I wouldn't want the buttons to get pushed on accident.
What's pretty cool is that I can connect my phone to my external speakers and then remote control my music around the house with a few wrist taps.
Edit: Oh, and you can set long-presses for buttons to make them shortcuts. I have the top button for notifications, and the bottom go straight to my music.
