EDIT:
- What if we change the movie club in honor of Williams to Dead Poet's Society this week? Would that be possible?
How do you all feel about this? Should we watch Dead Poets Society beginning Monday in remembrance of Robin Williams and pick up the Three Colors Trilogy thereafter?
Three Colors: Blue is going to be our movie for the week. Both Red and Blue were mentioned wanting to be watched specifically so I figured Blue would be a good place to start since its the first of the trilogy (if I'm not mistaken).
The entire trilogy is available on Hulu Plus and Amazon Video. Unfortunately it wasn't available on Google Play so we couldn't keep using the account nowaypablo had set up. Lastly, if neither Hulu Plus or Amazon Video work for you here are some more sources.
b_b, humanodon, ButterflyEffect, OftenBen, roysexton, iammyownrushmore, blackbootz,_refugee_, veen, mk, eightbitsamurai, Ave, camarillobrillo, havires, kleinbl00, ecib, insomniasexx, elizabeth, nowaypablo, lil, pigeon, rjw, StJohn, Mindwolf, Meriadoc, beezneez, longstocking, galen, theadvancedapes, ghostoffuffle, T-Dog, jonaswildman, coffeesp00ns, CashewGuy, bfv, cgod, mike
I live below the poverty line so I haven't and don't plan on watching these but I encourage people to listen to Zbigniew Preisner. I believe he composed one of the main pieces of music Blue and also some in Red. If anyone knows music by Henryk Gorecki, Etc., Preisner is in a very similar vein. Enjoy.
Not to be rude but if you have home internet access, you could watch it even with slow speed if you let it load. I can pm you a link if you like. edit there are sources in this post actually
Oh dear. Look, I want to warn everyone that hasn't seen it already: Blue is weak enough that it'd put you off from seeing White or anything else by the director. This would be a mistake, because White is some superb, compelling story-telling. Here's a warning: I think someone held a gun to the film editor's head and said "fade to black, but keep the sound rolling... and fade back up on the same damn scene. See, that's ART!" The above doesn't happen only once. It happens enough that you start thinking, "there will now be a medium-sized intermission" and "there will now be a whopping-great intermission, during which we shall sell small ice creams in large boxes". In contrast, the first hour of White FLIES BY. You're just riveted. When you think back, not enough seemed to happen to warrant that much time on screen. However you realize how much you've been sucked into the character.
Woo! Glad to see a new one, let's keep this film rolling <skips away to avoid gettin shot for that pun> I hadn't even heard this series or whatever it is so I guess I'm down.
