This is one of my favorite TED talks -- not because of the rather mundane discovery he made, but because he essentially built a friggen time machine to do it. Well, okay, it's more of an archiver -- a backup copy of life, if you will. But it's so cool.

Yeah, I've always enjoyed this talk too and have been envious of his data, in a personal sense. Wouldn't it be great to have such archives of your child's development?

Well you know guys... it's a thing to have the data for personal use, only you no matter what! Another thing then is the possibility of a government or corporation to use something like this.

With all the debate going around these days about personal data being used for different purposes, SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, social networks I would be skeptic about the idea. I think it's a very interesting idea and it should be funded for researching purposes only but in no way for everyday use, at least for the moment...

That would be phenomenal. And on a slightly less impressive note: you would never lose anything again. "Oh crap, I can't find my keys! Oh well, I'll just rewind my life to see where I last left them."

Ha :-) How very practical.
