Faraday bags work. You can get them sized to conveniently cover a cell phone. Not nearly as cool as a mailbox, but more convenient to carry.
Faraday bags for cell phones were all the rage after last defcon as I remember. There were a lot of write-ups and at least one Kickstarter. They existed before then , but I don't remember them being a "thing" in the more mainstream tech press before last year.
