This was a project for my design class last semester. We had to cut shapes from a 3"x3" piece of paper, create a scene out of those pieces, and not throw out any pieces. This was one of the most challenging and fun projects I've done so far.

You should. They're quite easy and a lot of fun. You get to meet a lot of great people. The classes I took (at community college) required very little outside work. Most of the class was spent working, talking, collaborating, and meeting people. It's was more fun that a typical class and I think you will be surprised by the amount you learn. A lot of design principles carry over into other things you do.
