Regardless of how shitty this article is, the potential to remove as consumers half the population of the world does not seem like a minor issue. Or the number of men who would experience the same.

I believe less and less in VR each day.

Not a world changer. Immerse tech is on the way out.

I wouldn't say that it's an entirely gimmick technology. A personal VR headset would be incredibly useful for training as you could save expensive materials in the process if you do it right. If the military goes with drones more and more for air missions, having your full field of view pumped right in to your face is incredibly useful compared to a screen.

The problem is that at best it is unnecessary. A controller for a console was absolutely necessary for gaming. You can't not have it and hit a mainstream audience because a keyboard just isn't ergonomic, and it's controls aren't standardized. For VR? Not so much.
