This link includes a letter that he wrote announcing his retirement after the 2014 season. This letter exemplifies why this man is my second favorite athlete of all time (second to Mariano Rivera, for those of you that might care).
Derek Jeter is not only a class-act baseball player, but human being. I will never forget the time spent at Yankee Stadium as a kid into my teen years watching him play. Another piece of my childhood fading away. I don't know if anyone will read this, but I actually have this book, Derek Jeter: The Life You Imagine that I got at a book fair in elementary school. It's a great, inspirational book if you're looking for something like that.
