As much as I don't really like/dislike hip-hop, I gotta say that I didn't particularly like any of those songs, and I actually ended up preferring the music included in a few of the ads that played before the video. Which is kind of sad, really.

I have no problems with hip-hop itself. I actually like seeing the culture than spawns from it, and don't really care if music is "deep" or not (as long as it sounds good :P).

But really, I couldn't stand any of those songs, nor can I stand the majority of what falls under "hiphop". Basically they have no musical aspects to them at all. Which is unfortunate, as I tend to really enjoy some of the people..... er.... singing? rapping? Nonetheless, I enjoy hearing what they have to say, but I can't stand the "music" that they go along with.

Like, if you took Fort Minor or Eminem or something and just paired them up with a classical musician, great stuff could be done.

Nujabes seems to be a good example of musical quality. But I haven't listened to enough of his stuff to say whether the lyrical portion is any good (I mostly just clicked/skimmed through).

Like most things in life, it's out there if you look for it. Here's but a few examples of great Hip-Hop with both brilliant rapping and excellent music to accompany it.

And what about the Hip-Hop EP I produced? https://soundcloud.com/kinetics/sets/paper-plates-a-life-in-... ;)
