Not being catholic, I'm unfamiliar with apostolic exhortations - so I looked it up: The challenge is to act effectively: An apostolic exhortation is a type of communication from the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. It encourages a community of people to undertake a particular activity
Francis is fast becoming my favourite pope.Almost without being aware of it, we end up being incapable of feeling compassion at the outcry of the poor, weeping for other people’s pain, and feeling a need to help them, as though all this were someone else’s responsibility and not our own.
I have a number of issues with the Catholic Church. However, I am very glad to see Francis challenging US Catholics with a doctrine that runs counter to the strange marriage of Randian economics and Christian belief. I was raised a Catholic, and this kind of talk sounds like the sermons I used to hear after readings from the New Testament.
