I was reading an account of a photographer that shot the Decotora culture in Japan. One of the drivers said that he was a trucker and he had to love his job since he had to do it all the time...so that was why he decorated. To make himself love the place he spent most of his time.

These are bizarre and so futuristic they become gaudy. Some of the photos look like a bad mashup of Las Vegas and Blade Runner.

They are over the top. For me, they take the notion of gaudiness and bedazzling so far beyond that it transforms and becomes completely awesome.

I once won an arm-wrestling competition where one of these was the award. I ended up winning custody of my child as a result. It was really over-the-top.
