Most definitely not the case. I've been thinking about this problem for a while and here is my conclusion. 1. The future of modern post-industrial living will undoubtedly generate massive amounts of data on each individual person. 2. This data must be protected, both from individuals/groups who would use it for personal gain, and from government entities that are above constitutional law and oversight. 3. This data (hopefully) will be personally controlled so that if Taco Bell wants to know when I'm near a store, I have to consciously agree to let them have access to that data, and I will receive some sort of reward for giving them that information. Then this process becomes a voluntary market transaction, rather than a completely unmanageable and hegemonic system.
