Well, it's a valley in the Alps. The towns aren't super elevated. Looks like Lauterbrunnen is at 2600 feet.

The waterfall you're looking at is spectacular, but it's one of a dozen that fall down those cliffs, and there are two completely different waterfalls within striking distance that are much more interesting. I took a mountain bike up the valley so I could see them all at my leisure, made a day trip out of it. One of the best days of my life.

One thing that I remember from Lauterbrunnen was that about ten minutes after I took that picture my phone died, and I panicked (as much as you can when your life is basically perfect) because I had to be able to take pictures at Trummelbach Falls. I don't speak German, but I picked a store, went in and got the point across to this gorgeous German girl (surprise) that I needed to borrow a phone charger if possible. I hung out with her while my phone charged, and finally bought like thirty slabs of chocolate from her store as a thank you. One of a thousand extremely friendly interactions I had with Germans (Swiss and otherwise). Amazing countries, both.

Oh, I wouldn't even bother trying to speak Swiss German. Here's a tip: whenever you lose a phone charger, head to the largest hotel in town and explain that you stayed there a few nights ago and left your charger. There is a chance that there is a lost and found composed of mostly "lost items". If you feel guilty about doing this, simply "lose" one of the same kind of items at another similar locale.

I never made it to Switzerland, though I wish I had. I didn't go because my friends were skydiving over Basel and I didn't have the cash. If I remember correctly, I chose to hang out in Amsterdam (which was much closer to where I was living) instead. Study-abroads in Europe are so great.
