Been wondering whether I should listen to the new Mazzy Star. Lately I've been getting my fill of hard-driving British (or Scottish) soft punk rock, Libertines, Kooks, AM, etc. Here's a song off the new Fratellis album in the same vein.

I think you should listen to it. They haven't lost it after 17 years of not releasing a record, I've listened to the new album a few times since it's came out and I like it a lot.
