i'm not even sure it's possible to ban them, something like half the police forces vote for them, any ban would be unenforceable.

Those are the kind of of obstacles that come to mind. But also I'm not sure it's a good idea to set a precedence of banning political parties.

The Junta wasn't that long ago. It wouldn't be acceptable for most countries to ban a political party, but I think Greece banning Golden Dawn deserves the same "let's not do that again" exemption to democratic norms Germany gets every time it tries to ban the NDP.
