So a while back we had a pretty nice scifi club that I was presiding over.
You can check it out under the #scificlub tag.
Now I think the club has been a lot of fun and is due for a reboot.
I maintain that for a virtual book/movie club to work it needs 1) to keep the content free and easily accessible, b) keep the content short and quick to consume, and III) that discussions/check-ins on hubski should be frequent, not letting people wait in limbo for more than a week or so, lest they lose interest.
Coming up with good content for the club wasn't especially hard, but it did take a bit of coordination.
Now recently I've come to realize that the Hugo Award has a list of short stories, giving us a nice catalog of highly suitable material. In fact it's 60 years of the cream-of-the-crop scifi, all of which are very short reads and mostly easily accessible online.
Now I'd like to suggest that we have a weekly Hugo short story discussion starting from the bottom up.
Amidst that, I'd like to keep the tradition of user-voted choices (including media like movies, etc.) going in tandem. So each week there would be the discussion on the (very) short story, and perhaps also a discussion/voting on the next crowd favorite.
Old peeps, who wants back onboard?
