The solution is to change regulations, not to have a free market (at least not free as in anarchy). The current regulations are the response to free markets on drugs in the early twentieth(?) and before which lead to heroin cough syrup and people dying from snake oil treatments. There needs to be regulation to ensure safety, and the regulations need to change when people exploit them.

I don't know how common it is, but here's some advice: I've on and off been attracted to a lot of women, many of whom I managed to resist for whatever reason. You can't get rid of your feelings, but you should be able to not act on them if you wish. The feelings will go away in time on their own. At worst, they'll go away when she does after study group is done.

But it's better for the individual person in the group to be irreplaceable. If I'm the only hunter, everyone will work to protect me and I get all the ladies. It's evolution, not politics.

The torture scenario is unrealistic. If torture were 70% effective, it would be morally permissible. Torture is barely effective. People lie under torture all the time. That's part of the reason it's wrong.

As a poor white person, I get annoyed because people want to make everything about race and ignore poverty and class. If we fixed poverty it would be a an awfully big help to marginalized minorities.

Like those pills do anything more than lisa's rock from the Simpsons. He thinks his pills work just because he's not dead yet! He counts keeping his diabetes at bay as an indication he can live forever, but diabetes is treatable. Of course it isn't coming back.

I thought this was a decent quick summary of stoicism, but I'm not sold on this "primal lifestyle" diet book. I highly doubt that any modern day writer knows enough about hunter-gatherers to create a diet plan. Or than you and I could put one into practice.

Like say walking. A hunter-gather walks for hours a day. Who's got time for that?

And what do hunter gatherers look like? Kind of in shape, but with a little belly according to National Geographic pics. They look good when they're young and shitty when they're old, same as everyone else. They just aren't fat because they're poor and have to walk forever to find their food -- but most people aren't much fatter anyway.

Besides which all the weak hunter gatherers die, so only the strong fit ones are left to take photos of. I'm weak and out of shape. Maybe I can't cut the primal lifestyle at all.

And funny he's talking about blacking out the electricity, but he's still allowed to write. Jungle people have no writing.
