I should say, I wrote it right after I smoked salvia. You can't write much when your on it. I just found it in an old notebook. Kinda neat, right? All the feelings from that day came rushing back to me when I read it.
The key ia to write it all down because 1 in 100 is actually badass and you wont realize it for a while. The next morning everything is shit. 2 weeks later its still shit but at least you didn't delete it all even though its shit. At some point it either is still shit or its badass poetry/insight/etc. and others soak it up. Then all the bs is worth it.
I woke up the next day and in my notebook were three words that looked like they were written by a 4 year old, it said "DO NOT JOIN". I then opened up pro-tools and saw that we had created 4 new "songs" and all 4 of them were titled variations on "Do Not Join". One was called "The Joiners" another, "You must join" etc. The best part is that most of them had no music, just click tracks. One of them had a track with us talking though and its pretty scary. We just kept yelling "Do Not Join" and "You mustn't Join". -Strange. I eventually started working on a song called "The Joiners" but never did anything much with it. I have it demo'd up, maybe I'll post it here. You're right though, you never know if one of your crazy/stupid ideas will spawn something amazing.
Also, I enjoyed your writing but damn... It sure is ominous. Was there something on your horizon that was troubling you? A decision to make or a new experience? Good stuff insom, thanks for sharing.
I had just gotten back from my first semester at NYU and was sitting on the beach in LA. I had an awesome first semester and made a lot of new friends and was back in LA with all my old best friends. That salvia trip was my first time. I can best describe it like this: You know that feeling when you wake up in your bed tangled in your sheets and all sweaty and you aren't quite awake yet have no idea what is going on but you are just immensely frustrated. That's what it was like that time. I think a lot of people would look at a trip like that as a "bad" trip but I didn't, and still don't. It was fascinating and an experience that I would have done again. I'm gunna be late for work - gotta hop in the shower - talk more in an hour or so.
Never tried it myself, but there are some pretty funny salvia clips on Youtube.
