Interesting idea but I'm skeptical, given the source. Anyone talking about ways for rich people to pay more taxes is worth talking about, I suppose.

I can't read the whole article. Not a subcriber. I agree though, it's an idea worth taking about. I think it should be a raise in the capital gains tax rate though and not income tax.

Harmonizing the capital gains tax rate with the income tax rate would do a great deal to address the deficit, with little to no impact on economic growth.

"Harmonizing", not a word I would normally associate with a discussion about tax policy. I appreciate that.
It's my understanding that there have been no studies showing that a higher capital gains tax would dissuade investment. Does anyone know of one? It seems hyperbole on the side of the Grover-Nordquister's to say otherwise. , as our resident economist, do you know of any valid studies done on this topic? What are your thoughts on raising the capital gains tax, let's say to Clintonian levels.
