I can't read the whole article. Not a subcriber. I agree though, it's an idea worth taking about. I think it should be a raise in the capital gains tax rate though and not income tax.

Harmonizing the capital gains tax rate with the income tax rate would do a great deal to address the deficit, with little to no impact on economic growth.

"Harmonizing", not a word I would normally associate with a discussion about tax policy. I appreciate that.

It's my understanding that there have been no studies showing that a higher capital gains tax would dissuade investment. Does anyone know of one? It seems hyperbole on the side of the Grover-Nordquister's to say otherwise. cgod, as our resident economist, do you know of any valid studies done on this topic? What are your thoughts on raising the capital gains tax, let's say to Clintonian levels.
