    What could go wrong?

Can't tell if you're asking rhetorically or not, but I genuinely don't know. I tried to read a bit more, and it looks like most of the gripes are trivial and boil down to "don't play god." I don't know where mosquitoes fit in the food chain, but they are probably among the world's leading killers. Malaria kills 3000 children per day {pdf warning}, so whatever fears people have of GMOs better compare favorably with that.

I’m genuinely wondering what could go wrong? Could we end up with zero mosquitos? How big of a role do they play in the food chain? Etc.
